A waste pickers registration and surveys event in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. TATA Africa participated and supported this event on the 25th of November. The TATA Africa company ‘Ethics Week’ brought their team to a waste collection site in Kariakoo, where they participated by registering waste pickers and explaining to them why we are conducting this activity too. Additionally, TATA donated 100 Reflective Vests and Gloves to the waste pickers, as well refreshments such as water and soft drinks. The waste pickers were very grateful for this, as they explained how they will be recognised and respected more in their duties. For example when they are approaching a buyer for their collected material with a reflective vest they are handled differently to when without.
