Community Mobilization Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Mobilize youth, households, and local leaders across five wards to actively participate in the KnM project. Support the setup and daily operations of community Waste Banks (Taka Benki) and the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
• Lead outreach campaigns, school engagement, and community cleaning activities that promote waste recovery and circular economy practices.
• Help onboard and support 200 youth beneficiaries, including organizing them into local enterprises. Encourage the use of the ZaidiApp for waste tracking and access to social incentives.
• Collaborate with local government, schools, and community groups to build long-term ownership of the project.
• Capture community stories, successes, and behavior changes as part of regular reporting.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Community Development, Sociology, Environmental Studies, or related field.
• 3-5 Years of experience working with youth groups, CBOs, or in informal settlement contexts is preferred. Preferred age range is 25–35 years
• Candidates residing in Tanga will be given top priority during the selection process
• Excellent communication skills in both Kiswahili and English.
• Energetic, culturally sensitive, and committed to grassroots impact.
• Knowledge of digital reporting tools and local terrain in Tanga is an added advantage.
